Brandon Ingram’s Recovery Update
Brandon Ingram, the Toronto Raptors’ forward, has received medical clearance to resume full-contact practice as he continues to recover from an ankle injury. Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic expressed optimism about Ingram’s condition, stating that he is free of pain, demonstrating good mobility, and has made significant strength improvements.
Rajakovic shared these updates with TSN on Thursday, noting that Ingram is currently in excellent shape and is expected to participate in team scrimmages soon.
Ingram’s Injury History and Career
Following an injury that sidelined him for the remainder of the previous season on December 7 while he was still with the New Orleans Pelicans, Ingram has been diligently engaging in individual training sessions with the Raptors to aid his rehabilitation. He was traded to Toronto in February in a deal that involved sending Bruce Brown and Kelly Olynyk to the Pelicans.
Shortly after the trade, Ingram signed a lucrative three-year contract extension worth $120 million, which reportedly includes a player option for the 2027-28 season.
Performance and Career Highlights
Despite being a former All-Star (notably during the 2019-20 season), Ingram has yet to hit the court for Toronto, as he was officially ruled out for the season on April 9 due to recovery from a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection.
Ingram’s performance in the 2024-25 season saw him average 22.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 5.2 assists across 18 games, contributing to his career averages of 19.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.3 assists over 495 games played. He was originally drafted second overall by the Los Angeles Lakers in 2016 and played there until 2019 before transferring to New Orleans.
