Brady Tkachuk Denounces Manipulated TikTok Video
In a recent statement, Brady Tkachuk, the captain of the NHL’s Ottawa Senators and a key player for Team USA, expressed his disbelief at a manipulated TikTok video published by the White House. The video falsely portrayed him making offensive remarks about Canadians following Team USA’s Olympic gold medal victory over Canada.
Tkachuk vehemently denounced the clip, which included modified audio making it seem as if he referred to Canadians in derogatory terms. The audio in the video included a phrase that was partly censored, but Tkachuk asserted that he would never use such language, emphasizing that the production was clearly altered and the alignment of his voice with the footage was incorrect.
Refutation of Claims
Additionally, Tkachuk refuted claims that he was the individual heard yelling “close the northern border” during a celebratory call with former President Donald Trump after the decisive win.
Context of the Controversy
This controversy comes soon after Tkachuk and his teammates returned from competing in the Winter Olympics in Italy. Upon their return, they have rejoined their NHL teams as the league progresses into the second part of its season.
Notably, during their recent visit to Washington D.C., some players from the U.S. hockey teams, after their triumphs—including the women’s team who recently defeated Canada in a tense overtime match—were seen at Trump’s State of the Union address, receiving enthusiastic applause from the audience.
Awaiting Response from the White House
As this incident unfolds, the White House has yet to provide a comment regarding the video’s authenticity and the implications it holds for Tkachuk and his team.
