Boston Bruins Appoint New Head Coach
As the Conference Finals progress, franchises that have been eliminated are setting their sights on next season, and the Boston Bruins are no exception. After a lackluster 2024-25 season, the Bruins have made a significant move by appointing a new head coach.
Marco Sturm Takes the Helm
Reports indicate that Marco Sturm, previously at the helm of the Ontario Reign, has been selected as the new coach for the Bruins. At 46, Sturm brings a wealth of experience; he was a first-round draft pick by the San Jose Sharks in 1996, taken 21st overall.
Sturm enjoyed a noteworthy NHL career spanning nearly eight seasons before joining the Bruins during the 2005-06 season. He played for several different teams throughout his career, with his last NHL game played in 2011-12 for the Florida Panthers. Only one report has surfaced thus far regarding this coaching change, but updates will follow as more information becomes available.
San Jose Sharks Eye Roster Improvements
Meanwhile, the San Jose Sharks are looking to make moves of their own, potentially bringing back Mikael Granlund to enhance their roster after he was traded to the Dallas Stars last season. Additionally, the Sharks are poised to engage in the free agent market this offseason thanks to ample cap space.
Current Sharks player Will Smith has recently celebrated success, having secured a gold medal for Team USA in the 2025 IIHF World Championships by defeating Switzerland 1-0.
