Bob Myers Joins Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment

On Friday, Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment (HBSE) announced that Bob Myers will step away from his position as an NBA analyst at ESPN, taking on the prestigious role of president of sports within the company. Josh Harris and David Blitzer jointly released a statement expressing their enthusiasm over Myers’ addition to their executive team, highlighting their commitment to attracting top-tier talent. They noted,

“Our aim has been to hire, grow, and retain the best and brightest executives in the world and we are a stronger, more dynamic organization with the addition of Bob Myers.”

Myers’ Focus and Background

In his new role at HBSE, Myers will focus on enhancing opportunities and refining processes across the organization’s diverse portfolio, which includes an array of teams such as the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers, the NHL’s New Jersey Devils, the NASCAR team Joe Gibbs Racing, and the Premier League club Crystal Palace.

Before moving to HBSE, Myers, age 50, had a remarkable tenure as the general manager of the Golden State Warriors from 2012 to 2023, where he played a crucial role in guiding the team to four NBA championships. He also received recognition for his efforts by being awarded the NBA Executive of the Year twice during his time leading the franchise. After resigning from his position with the Warriors in May 2023, Myers transitioned to ESPN three months later, where he contributed as a studio and game analyst for NBA broadcasts. Additionally, he has been serving as a special advisor for Josh Harris with the Washington Commanders since January 2024, assisting in key staff appointments, including GM Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn.

Myers’ Vision for the Future

In reflecting on his new position, Myers expressed profound respect for Harris and Blitzer and their success in building a notable sports empire. He conveyed his enthusiasm about the potential for collaboration, emphasizing,

“This role was intriguing because it provides the opportunity to work with some of the industry’s most talented leaders and executives across the world’s biggest sports leagues. We can create competitive advantages for our athletes and teams that enhance our ability to win. This is the type of challenge and opportunity I was looking for, and I’m grateful to Josh and David for the chance to be a part of HBSE.”
