Real Betis Optimistic About Antony’s Return
Real Betis is still optimistic about the possibility of bringing back Antony, the Manchester United winger, according to the club’s sporting director, Manu Fajardo. The Brazilian forward, whose current contract with United runs until 2027, spent the latter part of the last season on loan at Betis, where he experienced a significant resurgence in form.
“Both the player and the club have a mutual desire to reunite,” Fajardo expressed to the media concerning Antony’s potential return.
He added,
“With each passing day, our hope increases, but we need to ensure that any deal aligns with Betis’ financial capabilities.”
Antony’s Current Situation
Antony, who is 25 years old, was notably absent from Manchester United’s preseason tour in the United States, suggesting the club’s willingness to part ways with him. Reports indicated that several European clubs, including Benfica, Bayer Leverkusen, and RB Leipzig, are keeping a close watch on his situation. Additionally, interest has also emerged from clubs in the Saudi Pro League.
Performance at Betis
After transferring from Ajax to United for £85 million (approximately $114 million) in 2022, Antony’s time at Betis was marked by impressive statistics, including nine goals and five assists in 26 matches, contributing to the team’s run to the Conference League final.
While Betis has been pleased with Antony’s contributions during his loan, sources have revealed that the club might not be in a position to sign him permanently. They remain hopeful of negotiating another loan agreement with United to secure his services for the upcoming season.
