Belleville Senators: Mixed Week Ends Streaks Despite Shine from Rookie Parsons

Belleville Senators Weekly Recap

Last week’s run for the Belleville Senators was a mixed bag, presenting both triumphant moments and challenges. Kicking off with a dominating 4-0 victory over the Toronto Marlies in their inaugural School Day Game—in front of an enthusiastic crowd of over 4,000 students—the Senators enjoyed a highlight moment on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. Local rookie goaltender Jackson Parsons notched his first career AHL shutout, blocking all 25 shots he faced. His teammates supported him with goals from Oskar Pettersson, Carter Yakemchuk, Arthur Kaliyev, and Jan Jenik to solidify the win.

Challenges on the Road

However, the momentum did not last as the Senators faced two consecutive losses during their four-game road trip, starting with a heartbreaker against the Laval Rocket on November 21, where they lost 4-3 in overtime. Despite Arthur Kaliyev extending his scoring streak to seven games with his tenth goal and Scott Harrington scoring his first as a Senator, they could not hold on after a late equalizer from Xavier Bourgault pushed the game into extra time. Goaltender Mads Sogaard returned to action following an injury and managed to save 33 of 37 attempts.

The following night, on November 22, the Senators encountered a much tougher scene in another match against the Rocket. The game turned into a heavy defeat, with the Senators succumbing 7-2 during a Teddy Bear Toss event at Laval. Despite scoring twice early on, courtesy of Phil Daoust and Wyatt Bongiovanni, the Senators fell apart in the third period, allowing four goals to Laval. Parsons faced 37 shots in total, marking his first loss of the season. This streak of losses ultimately halted Belleville’s four-game winning streak and their five-game points streak, though they still held a spot in fourth place in the North Division.

Player Movements and Future Outlook

As for transactions, there were several player movements leading into and during the week. Lassi Thomson was recalled from loan by the Ottawa Senators, followed by further adjustments to the roster as players came back from loans and others were temporarily assigned. Additionally, the Senators are seeing promising performances from their top prospects, including key contributors like Philippe Daoust and Arthur Kaliyev, who are making notable impacts at various levels of play.

Looking ahead, the Senators are set to continue their road trip by facing the Manitoba Moose, where they will participate in another School Day Game before transitioning back to their regular schedule. It’s a busy period for Belleville, with the team expected to spend much of the upcoming month at home, with a special Hockey Fights Cancer Weekend planned against the Providence Bruins at month-end. The Senators remain focused on maintaining their competitive edge as they navigate a challenging stretch of the season.
