Beerschot Strengthens Defense with New Signing
Beerschot has successfully secured the services of Bas van den Eynden, a 23-year-old defender, who has signed a three-year agreement to strengthen their defense ahead of the next season. This move comes in response to the departure of Omar Fayed, who has left the team on loan.
Background of Bas van den Eynden
Originally hailing from Antwerp, van den Eynden is well-acquainted with Beerschot, having progressed through the youth programs of Beerschot, Westerlo, and KV Mechelen. At Mechelen, he appeared in 17 matches for the first team before his contract came to an end. Although he was open to extending his stay at Mechelen, he was eager to solidify his future, ultimately leading him back to Beerschot.
Van den Eynden’s Thoughts on His Return
“This club has always held a special place in my heart. I had great years here as a youth player, and it’s an honor to come back and now serve as a role model myself.
I’m thankful for the chances I got at KV Mechelen, but I’m excited for this new chapter.”
Significance of the Signing
The addition of van den Eynden is viewed as a homecoming and a tactical move for Beerschot, particularly as they gear up for the next season following a disappointing relegation from the Jupiler Pro League. His prior experience and connection to the club are expected to be valuable assets as Beerschot aims to rebound in the league.
