In a thrilling matchup on Saturday night, the No. 15 Baylor women’s basketball team secured a narrow 67-64 victory over Arizona State in Waco, Texas. Taliah Scott was instrumental in the win, contributing 17 points despite struggling with her shooting, having made only four out of 14 attempts from the field. However, she excelled at the free-throw line, hitting all seven attempts, and sunk two pivotal three-pointers during the game.

The contest saw Arizona State briefly take the lead for the first time in the second half following a 12-2 scoring run, putting them ahead 44-43 with just three minutes remaining in the third quarter. Baylor, however, responded strongly and ended the third quarter leading 53-48. Arizona State was able to tie the game twice more in the fourth quarter, but it was Baylor’s Kayla Nelms who secured the lead for good after converting two free throws with 5:43 left on the clock.

Jana Van Gytenbeek also delivered a key performance, scoring 13 points, while Nelms added 12 points for the Bears. Darianna Littlepage-Buggs contributed six points and was a force on the boards, collecting 12 rebounds. Arizona State’s Gabby Elliott led her team, scoring 25 points on an impressive 9-of-17 shooting, while Jyah LoVett supported with 16 points.

As Baylor improves to a 21-4 overall mark and holds a 10-2 conference record, they extend their winning streak over Arizona State to six games, including two victories since the Sun Devils joined the Big 12.
