Baylor Bears Secure Dominant Victory Over Kansas State

In a decisive victory, the 18th-ranked Baylor Bears defeated Kansas State 80-54 on Monday night in Waco, Texas, marking their final home game of the regular season. Taliah Scott led the charge with an impressive 20 points, reaching this milestone for the 19th occasion this season. She was supported by Bella Fontleroy, who contributed 16 points, including four 3-pointers, as Baylor showcased their shooting prowess by hitting 13 out of 26 attempts from beyond the arc, achieving a shooting percentage of 50%.

Game Highlights

The game turned decisively in Baylor’s favor during the third quarter when the Bears erupted with a 13-2 run, with Fontleroy scoring 12 of her points in this period alone, thanks to an efficient 4-of-5 shooting performance. By the end of the third, Baylor had established a solid 48-28 lead.

In addition to Scott and Fontleroy’s contributions, Darianna Littlepage-Buggs notched a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds, strengthening Baylor’s control on the boards with a total of 43 rebounds compared to Kansas State’s 29. Jana Van Gytenbeek also played a crucial role by racking up eight assists to accompany her five points.

Kansas State’s Struggles

For Kansas State, Jordan Speiser and Tess Heal each netted 12 points, while Brandie Harrod added another 10. Notably, Taryn Sides, who usually leads the team in scoring with an average of 12.7 points per game, was unable to score in her 12 minutes on the floor. The Wildcats struggled offensively, finishing the game with a 34% shooting rate and committing 14 turnovers.

At halftime, Baylor was already ahead 35-26, having contained Kansas State to just 35% shooting overall, including a dismal 2-of-13 performance from the three-point line.
