Bayern Munich Considers Contract Extension for Harry Kane
In recent statements, Bayern Munich’s sporting director Max Eberl has suggested that the club is considering extending Harry Kane‘s contract. The England captain has made an impressive impact since joining Bayern from Tottenham, scoring 100 goals in just 104 appearances, with his latest goal coming in a match against Werder Bremen.
Speculation Surrounding Kane’s Future
Despite his success, there has been persistent speculation regarding a possible return to the Premier League, fueled by rumors of a release clause in his contract, which is currently set to expire in 2027. However, Kane has not indicated a desire to leave. As Bayern prepares for their Champions League match against Cypriot champions Pafos, Eberl emphasized Kane’s importance to the team and his commitment to the club.
“Harry is a leading player for us, he wanted to come to Bayern because he really likes to play here and win trophies. He wants to continue for a long time, so we’re going to talk about the next steps.”
Maintaining Squad Balance
Eberl also mentioned that maintaining a balance in the squad is crucial. He explained that players like Kane, who bring quality to the team, contribute significantly to its success and can remain valuable members for longer periods. Aside from Kane, Eberl is also focused on renewing the contract of defender Dayot Upamecano, who will become a free agent at the season’s end and has attracted interest from clubs such as Liverpool and Real Madrid. Eberl remarked on the ongoing discussions, expressing the club’s desire to convince Upamecano about the benefits of remaining at Bayern.
Champions League Match Against Pafos
As Bayern heads into their Champions League encounter, they face Pafos for the first time in history with high expectations. Eberl acknowledged the risks of underestimating their opponents, noting that Pafos had a competitive run in last year’s Conference League. He urged his players to showcase their skills and drive during the match, saying:
“The danger with Pafos is that everyone expects us to win… If we can perform at our best, we should win.”
The Bavarians will be without several key players due to injuries, including Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies, but they are still equipped with a strong roster, highlighted by the experienced goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who is about to achieve his 152nd Champions League appearance. Pafos, on the other hand, will look to build on their recent result against Olympiacos, where they managed a draw despite being a player down.
With Bayern’s impressive form and commitment to their star players, the atmosphere remains optimistic ahead of the match.
