In a recent episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, Ayesha Curry shared some intriguing insights about her husband, Stephen Curry, who is widely regarded as the greatest three-point shooter in NBA history. Reflecting on their early relationship, Ayesha revealed that she never anticipated Stephen would achieve stardom in professional basketball. In fact, she recalled that he once expressed a desire to become a high school basketball coach instead.

“I didn’t know that he was going to end up playing basketball,”

she said during the podcast.

Their Love Story

Their love story began in 2003, with dating following in 2009, and culminated in marriage in July 2011—just a few years before Stephen led the Golden State Warriors to their first NBA championship in 2015. Now parents to four children, Ayesha also opened up about the challenges they faced as their fame grew. She admitted feeling overwhelmed by the attention in the initial stages of their public life together.

Advice and Career Decisions

Furthermore, Ayesha recounted her advice to Stephen regarding the 2009 NBA Draft, suggesting he stay in college rather than pursue a professional career immediately. However, she expressed relief that he ultimately made the decision to enter the draft, where he was selected seventh overall by the Warriors.

“He ended up finishing anyway and has gone on to do tremendous, incredible, cool things that we never thought would happen, so it’s great,”

she said, clearly proud of his remarkable journey.

Stephen’s Recent Performance

Notably, Stephen had an impressive 2024-25 regular season, averaging 24.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, and six assists, while also securing a spot on the All-NBA second team.
