Aden Holloway’s Legal Troubles
Aden Holloway, a prominent player for Alabama’s basketball team, found himself in legal trouble on Monday, March 16, mere days before the Crimson Tide is set to kick off their journey in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. The Tuscaloosa News, part of the USA TODAY Network, reported that the 21-year-old was apprehended on charges related to the possession of over a pound of marijuana, alongside additional accusations for not properly affixing a tax stamp for the drugs.
Details of the Arrest
Authorities from the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force conducted a search at Holloway’s residence located in the 400 block of 30th East Avenue that morning, uncovering not only the marijuana but also associated paraphernalia and cash. Following his arrest, Holloway was taken to the Tuscaloosa County Jail, where his bail was set at $5,000. Reports indicate that he has since posted bond and is no longer in custody.
Impact on Basketball Season
As a key player on the Crimson Tide squad, Holloway has averaged 16.8 points, 3.8 assists, and 2.8 rebounds per game this season. Alabama, entering the tournament as a 4-seed, is slated to compete against an opponent at the Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, Florida on Friday, March 20, starting at 3:15 p.m. There is currently uncertainty regarding whether Holloway will receive any disciplinary action from the basketball program as a result of this felony charge.
