Ángel Di María Returns to Rosario Central
Ángel Di María, the renowned Argentine forward, is set to make a heartfelt return to his roots by signing with Rosario Central, the club that marked the beginning of his illustrious career. This announcement, made on Thursday, was welcomed warmly by the club, which shared a video on social media stating,
“Our history together has more pages to write. Welcome home.”
Career Highlights
Now 37 years old, Di María’s football journey began in 2005 with Rosario Central before he moved on to notable European teams including Benfica, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, and Juventus. He rejoined Benfica earlier this year in 2023. Last summer, Di María almost made the switch back to Rosario Central, but personal safety concerns—stemming from a rise in drug-related violence and threats to his family in the area—led him to rethink those plans.
Throughout his career in Europe, Di María has achieved tremendous success, accumulating a total of 30 titles at the club level. Additionally, he has been a pivotal part of the Argentine national team, contributing to six international titles, among them two Copa América trophies, the FIFA World Cup in 2022, and gold at the 2008 Olympic Games.
Upcoming Event
Di María’s return to Rosario Central is anticipated to occur after Benfica competes in the upcoming Club World Cup next month in the United States, where they will face off against teams like Bayern Munich, Boca Juniors, and Auckland City in Group C.
