Chicago Bulls Update: Anfernee Simons’ Injury
In a recent development for the Chicago Bulls, guard Anfernee Simons is set to undergo further imaging scans on his left wrist injury today, as announced by head coach Billy Donovan prior to the Bulls’ game against the New York Knicks. Simons sustained a sprain during Saturday’s match, where the Bulls faced a significant defeat against the Detroit Pistons, losing 126-110. The guard did not participate in the second half due to the injury.
Evaluation and Coach’s Comments
Simons, who joined the Bulls in a trade that sent Nikola Vucevic to the Boston Celtics earlier this month, is currently being evaluated to determine the severity of his wrist condition. Coach Donovan shared,
“Our medical team wants to consult with a hand specialist and we will conduct some imaging tomorrow. I’ll have more clarity after that.”
Reflecting on Simons’ current state, he added,
“He’s still experiencing considerable soreness, but we are uncertain about the duration of his absence.”
Simons’ Performance and Background
Since joining the Bulls, Simons has played in six games, starting five, and has averaged 15.2 points while recording about 28.4 minutes on the court. Prior to his trade, he featured in 49 games for the Celtics this season with an average of 14.2 points in 24.5 minutes per game. It’s worth noting that Simons, drafted by the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round of the 2018 NBA Draft, spent the majority of his career with the Blazers before being traded to Boston for Jrue Holiday in July.
Current Team Struggles
As the Bulls struggled, they have now entered a challenging phase with an eight-game losing streak as of Sunday.
