Andre Berto Elaborates on the Exciting Hybrid Format of Dirty Boxing Ahead of DBX6 in Miami

Exciting Developments in Combat Sports

In an exciting development for combat sports, former two-division world champion Andre Berto voices his enthusiasm for the Dirty Boxing Championship‘s innovative format, which he believes is engineered to deliver continuous excitement in the ring. The Dirty Boxing Championship (DBX) is set to host its next event, DBX6, on April 10 at the James L. Knight Center in Miami, where the new hybrid method merges classic boxing with certain elements of mixed martial arts (MMA).

Innovative Hybrid Format

The concept, which was co-created by notable fighters Jon Jones and Mike Perry, has attracted increasing interest within the combat sports community thanks to its unique integration of boxing strikes and confined ground game tactics. This hybrid model aims to discourage lengthy pauses within matches, thereby facilitating a more dynamic and engaging viewer experience.

Berto’s Involvement with Dirty Boxing

In a conversation with World Boxing News (WBN) ahead of the upcoming event, Berto shared how he became involved with Dirty Boxing. His entry into the promotion was facilitated by a close friend who had invested in the league.

“My friend had an initial meeting with one of the founders, and he invited me to discuss the exciting concept they were developing. He recognized the potential but wanted to understand the combat sport angle better, so I joined them in Miami for the meeting,”

Berto recounted.

It was during this meeting that Berto learned more about the promotion, which ultimately led him to attend the inaugural DBX event. Drawing from both boxing and MMA experiences, Berto was impressed by how the rules foster a continuous flow of action, eliminating the slower moments that can detract from both sports.

“I find the format fresh and appealing; it effectively removes the slower, stagnant segments found in both the UFC and traditional boxing,”

Berto explained. He noted that the structure of DBX facilitates fast-paced fighting without grappling, making room for techniques like elbow strikes in clinches. Unique to this hybrid format is the short window for finishing a grounded opponent, ensuring that fights remain lively and engaging.

Advantages for Boxers

According to Berto, the setup could naturally benefit experienced boxers given that the majority of fighting remains upright.

“There might be an advantage for skilled boxers since most of the action happens on our feet without grappling or excessive holding,”

he stated. This clear focus on boxing principles makes the sport accessible yet distinct from traditional boxing.

Upcoming DBX6 Event

As the promotion gears up for DBX6, viewers can look forward to an electrifying main event featuring an interim heavyweight title showdown between the undefeated Michael Garcia and Rob “The Wolf” Perez. Other notable matchups include Montavious Ware against Luis Saldana and Miami’s own Bryan “El Gallo” Duran challenging Tristan Gallichan on the main card.

Berto expressed optimism about the matchup, particularly highlighting Perez’s flair and confidence.

“I’ve seen him fight before, and he brings a lot of personality to the ring. He’s vocal and engaging, and he wants to be recognized as a future star in DBX,”

remarked Berto, who anticipates an action-packed evening that showcases the unique energy of Dirty Boxing.

Fans can catch the live stream of the event free on the promotion’s YouTube channel, promising an exhilarating showcase for combat sports enthusiasts.
