Ancelotti Excludes Neymar from Brazil Squad Again Ahead of Final Qualifiers

Brazil’s National Football Team Update

Brazil’s national football team, under the guidance of coach Carlo Ancelotti, will not see Neymar included in its ranks once more. This marks the second occasion during Ancelotti’s tenure that the renowned forward has been omitted from the lineup.

Neymar’s Absence and Focus on Recovery

Ancelotti addressed the press on Monday, explaining that Neymar must focus on regaining his optimal physical condition as Brazil gears up for the World Cup next summer. The team’s qualification has already been secured, but Ancelotti emphasized the importance of finishing the qualifying phase strongly, stating:

“Neymar, like everyone else, needs to be in top shape to contribute effectively to the team’s success in the World Cup. These two matches are crucial for us to conclude this phase successfully.”

Upcoming Matches

Looking ahead, Brazil is set to compete in its final two qualifying matches on September 4, where they will host Chile, followed by a clash against Bolivia on September 9. Neymar, currently playing for Santos, is facing an uphill battle this season as his team struggles in the Brazilian Serie A, sitting just two points above the relegation zone in 15th place. Recent results, including a staggering 6-0 defeat to Vasco da Gama, have provoked significant discontent among the club’s supporters.

Neymar’s Injury Challenges

Since Neymar’s return to Santos in January, he has dealt with ongoing injury issues, including a thigh injury that sidelined him for previous matches, which partially explains his absence from Ancelotti’s squad in May. The star player has not represented the national team since suffering a torn ACL and meniscus in October 2023.

Squad Highlights

On a brighter note, the national team will see veteran midfielder Casemiro included in the squad. Additionally, young Chelsea prospect Estêvão has earned a call-up following an impressive performance in a recent match. Below is the complete roster for Brazil’s upcoming fixtures:

  • Goalkeepers: Alisson, Bento, Hugo Souza.
  • Defenders: Alex Ribeiro, Alex Sandro, Caio Henrique, Douglas Santos, Fabrício Bruno, Gabriel Magalhães, Marquinhos, Vanderson, Wesley.
  • Midfielders: Andrey Santos, Bruno Guimarães, Casemiro, Joelinton, Lucas Paquetá.
  • Forwards: Estêvão, Gabriel Martinelli, João Pedro, Kaio Jorge, Luiz Henrique, Matheus Cunha, Raphinha, Richarlison.
