Manchester United’s Transfer Priorities
Ruben Amorim, the manager of Manchester United, has emphasized that the club’s priorities will take precedence when considering potential departures of Kobbie Mainoo and Joshua Zirkzee during the January transfer window. Both players, who have faced limited opportunities on the pitch this season, are eager to explore new prospects, particularly with the approaching FIFA World Cup adding urgency to their desires.
“The well-being of the club is our foremost concern, so any decisions will prioritize the team and the club’s requirements.”
Amorim acknowledges the players’ ambitions and frustrations, especially with such a significant event as the World Cup on the horizon. Yet, the coach insists,
“If I’m in a position to assist both the club and my players, I’ll happily do so. If that’s not possible, my focus will remain on the collective interests of the team.”
Midfield Reinforcements
In addition to the situation with Mainoo and Zirkzee, Manchester United is planning to reinforce their midfield lineup next summer. This decision comes in light of the team’s current struggles in that position, primarily relying on veteran midfielder Casemiro, 33, along with Bruno Fernandes. Casemiro’s essential role has been amplified due to Manuel Ugarte‘s inconsistent performances.
“It’s apparent that many talented players encounter challenges when they arrive here,”
Amorim noted about Ugarte’s transition.
“Right now, he’s undergoing a tough period. It’s our responsibility to provide support to our players, and we recognize that circumstances can change drastically in just a few weeks.”
He aims to help Ugarte regain his confidence, reminiscent of his time at Sporting, yet also stresses that adaptation is crucial as they train and develop in this new environment.
