Amorim Assures Manchester United Fanbase: Improvements Ahead but Time Is Needed

Ruben Amorim’s Vision for Manchester United

Ruben Amorim, the coach of Manchester United, reassured fans that improvements are on the horizon for the upcoming season, while acknowledging the challenges of implementing significant changes within a short span. With the team’s campaign set to kickoff against Arsenal at Old Trafford this Sunday, Amorim believes they are already performing better than last year’s squad that faced the disappointment of finishing in 15th place.

“We’ve made progress, but it’s essential to understand that transforming a team takes time,” Amorim conveyed during a press conference on Friday. “We can’t expect overnight changes in just four weeks, yet I feel we’re training harder and better equipped to handle the rigors of the game. My confidence in the team is growing, and we’re committed to evolving step by step.”

New Forward Line and Key Acquisitions

A significant source of his optimism is the newly established forward line featuring Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko, the latter being a notable acquisition from RB Leipzig for £73 million ($99 million) just last week. Amorim hinted at the potential inclusion of Sesko in the starting lineup against Arsenal, stating:

“Despite the limited time for integration, he’s fit and ready, which is crucial for our league’s demands. He possesses immense potential and versatility in his play style. While he will need to adjust to the competitive nature of the Premier League, I envision Ben as a long-term striker for Manchester United. That’s part of the reason we invested significantly in bringing him to our club.”

Focus on Domestic Competitions

This season, United will channel their efforts towards domestic competitions and the Premier League following a rare absence from European football—this marks the first instance in over a decade, dating back to the 2014-15 season, that they will not participate in European tournaments. Amorim emphasized the team’s ambitious goal to reclaim their place in Europe, aiming for a top-six or seven finish in the league.

“Reestablishing our presence in European competitions is critical for us, though as a Manchester United coach, it’s challenging to make such statements lightly,” he remarked. “We’re determined to push ourselves and show an improved performance this season.”
