Amazon to Stream NBA Cup Games
In a significant update for basketball fans, Amazon revealed on Wednesday that it will stream 17 games from the upcoming NBA Cup on Prime Video, which includes the championship match. Alongside this, the NBA disclosed the complete schedule for the tournament, detailing which games will be available on various broadcast channels.
Prime Video’s Game Lineup
Prime Video is set to air 10 group stage contests along with the knockout rounds, marking a new venture in sports broadcasting. The ‘NBA on Prime Cup Nights’ will feature a thrilling schedule of doubleheaders during the group play, commencing on October 31. The opening night will showcase a matchup between the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers, along with the Memphis Grizzlies facing off against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Exciting Matchups Ahead
As the tournament progresses, fans can look forward to exciting matchups such as the San Antonio Spurs, led by rising star Victor Wembanyama, going against the Houston Rockets on November 7, which will also see the debut of star player Kevin Durant in his new colors. Following that, the Golden State Warriors, featuring superstar Steph Curry, will embark on a challenging game against Nikola Jokic’s Denver Nuggets.
Other notable games include a clash between the Miami Heat and New York Knicks on November 14, with the Warriors facing the Spurs shortly after. Later, on November 21, the Cleveland Cavaliers will battle the Indiana Pacers while the Nuggets will travel to Houston. The schedule will also see the Milwaukee Bucks visiting New York and a thrilling contest where LeBron James’ Lakers host Dallas, including the highly touted No. 1 draft pick Cooper Flagg, on November 28.
Additional Broadcasts and Highlights
Apart from games on Prime Video, another 50 group matches will be aired across ESPN, NBC, and NBA League Pass. Notably, NBC will broadcast a couple of group stage games on November 25, including Philadelphia taking on Orlando, alongside the LA Clippers visiting the Lakers. The following day, ESPN is set to feature a trio of contests, including a matchup where the Detroit Pistons venture to Boston, as well as a rematch of last year’s Western Conference Finals between MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s Oklahoma City Thunder and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Earlier this week, additional game highlights such as the opening night, Christmas, and Martin Luther King Jr. Day matchups were made public. A comprehensive 80 out of the 82 games scheduled for all teams will be unveiled on Thursday, with the remaining two games depending upon the outcomes of the teams in the NBA Cup, set to be disclosed in December.
