In a stunning turn of events at the US Open quarterfinals, Amanda Anisimova triumphed over Iga Swiatek with a score of 6-4, 6-3 on Wednesday. This victory comes merely two months after an overwhelming defeat by Swiatek at Wimbledon, where Anisimova lost 6-0, 6-0, managing to secure just 24 points in a match that lasted under an hour.

This win not only marks a significant milestone for the 24-year-old, who was born in New Jersey and raised in Florida, but also propels her into her third Grand Slam semifinal and her first at the US Open.
Anisimova, seeded eighth for the tournament, displayed impressive composure and skill on the iconic Arthur Ashe Stadium court, clearly contrasting her previous encounter with the No. 2 seed and 2022 US Open champion, Swiatek. Earlier this year, Anisimova had emerged victorious against world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the Wimbledon semifinals, making her the first American woman to defeat top-2 WTA players in consecutive Grand Slam events since Serena Williams achieved this feat in 2012.
