Aliyah Boston Joins Boston Legacy FC Ownership
Aliyah Boston, the Indiana Fever’s standout forward and a notable figure in the WNBA, is set to acquire a stake in the newly established NWSL franchise, Boston Legacy FC, as confirmed by the team on Monday. The three-time All-Star is currently in the city, preparing to face the Connecticut Sun at TD Garden later this week.
About Boston Legacy FC
Scheduled to make its debut in 2026, the Boston Legacy FC will be part of a growing ownership group led by Jennifer Epstein, founder of Juno Equity, and supported by notable investors, including Olympic gold medalist Aly Raisman, actress Elizabeth Banks, and Brad Stevens, the general manager of the Boston Celtics, alongside his wife, Tracy.
Boston’s Commitment to the Community
“I’m honored to join the ownership group of the Boston Legacy. This city has shaped who I am today, and I’m thrilled to invest in a franchise that is dedicated to uplifting its players, the community, and the advancement of women’s sports.”
Having grown up in Massachusetts and attended Worcester Academy, where she won two state championships and had her jersey retired in 2024, Boston’s local roots run deep.
The Growing Trend in Women’s Sports Investment
Jennifer Epstein emphasized the significance of Boston’s investment, noting it highlights the momentum of women’s sports as both the WNBA and NWSL seek to expand. Earlier this year, another WNBA superstar, Sabrina Ionescu of the New York Liberty, also became an investor in Bay FC. The trend of former WNBA players investing in professional sports teams is gaining traction, with notable figures like Candace Parker, Sue Bird, and Renee Montgomery leading the way.
Looking Ahead
Looking ahead to 2026, Boston Legacy FC plans to hold its inaugural season’s home games at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA, due to delays in the construction of its anticipated home venue.
