Liverpool’s Preseason Tour of Asia
Liverpool’s preseason tour of Asia has been hit by the departure of goalkeeper Alisson Becker, who left the squad due to a personal issue. The 32-year-old Brazilian was not part of the open training session on Tuesday at the JFA Dream Field in Tokyo, where temperatures soared.
Liverpool has clarified that permission was granted for Becker to return to the UK, and as a result, he will miss the final match of their tour against Yokohama F Marinos at Nissan Stadium scheduled for Wednesday.
Goalkeeping Changes
In Becker’s absence, Giorgi Mamardashvili, a recent signing from Valencia, is anticipated to take the goalkeeping position later this week. The team’s coach, Arne Slot, still has other options available, including Freddie Woodman, Armin Pecsi, and Kornel Misciur, who are also part of the touring squad.
Other Departures
Becker’s exit marks the third departure from Liverpool’s Asian tour. Earlier, defender Joe Gomez returned home due to an Achilles injury and is now undergoing further evaluation on Merseyside. Additionally, winger Luis Diaz has left to finalize his transfer to Bayern Munich.
Liverpool’s journey in Asia commenced on a disappointing note, following a 4-2 loss to AC Milan in Hong Kong just days prior to their arrival in Tokyo.
