Alex DeBrincat Discusses Fiery Encounter Following Win Over Rangers

Alex DeBrincat’s Scoring Surge

In a remarkable display of scoring prowess, Detroit Red Wings forward Alex DeBrincat is currently experiencing one of his characteristic offensive surges. Over the last three games, DeBrincat netted five goals, including two in back-to-back matches. This notable achievement earned him recognition as one of the NHL’s Three Stars of the Week, a distinction he found exciting considering the caliber of talent in the league.

“It’s pretty cool to be acknowledged like that; there are so many talented players out there,”

DeBrincat stated after practice on Tuesday. He mentioned that although some of his goals might have been somewhat fortunate, he was grateful for each one. DeBrincat emphasized the importance of maintaining the team’s momentum, referencing the mixed results from their game against Buffalo.

“We had some good moments, but we need to keep this positive attitude moving forward,”

he noted.

Memorable Match Against the Rangers

DeBrincat’s scoring streak was highlighted during a recent 2-1 win against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden, a match that was memorable not just for the final score but for a postgame incident that involved players from both teams. The confrontation sparked when Rangers goalie Jonathan Quick, while sitting on the bench as an extra attacker, took issue with teammate Mason Appleton scoring into an empty net just as time expired. Quick charged at Appleton, igniting a substantial scuffle as both teams exited the rink.

“I understand Quick’s perspective, but I thought the timing was close enough to the final buzzer to justify it,”

DeBrincat said, reflecting on the skirmish. He recognized Quick’s frustrations while maintaining that Appleton’s actions did not necessarily violate any unwritten codes of conduct in hockey. He added that he appreciated the competitive spirit shown during the clash, indicating it made for a memorable experience, even if tensions ran high.

“It was kind of entertaining to be part of, and we ended up with some interesting photos from it,”

he quipped.

“But in the end, everyone sees these incidents differently. If the roles were reversed, I might feel differently too.”
