Alabama Dominates Mississippi State with a 100-75 Victory, Led by Amari Allen’s 23 Points

Alabama Crimson Tide Triumph Over Mississippi State

In a commanding display, the 17th-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide triumphed over Mississippi State with a decisive score of 100-75 on Wednesday evening in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Amari Allen showcased his scoring prowess, contributing 23 points to the victory. Teammate Latrell Wrightsell Jr. followed closely, adding 18 points, while freshman Aden Holloway chipped in another 16.

Strong Start and Record-Breaking Performance

Alabama started the game with remarkable momentum, launching into a 15-2 lead bolstered by five successful 3-pointers. This trend continued as they set a season-high by hitting 16 three-pointers in the first half alone. This game marked the ninth consecutive match where Alabama has managed to net at least 10 three-pointers, indicating their effective long-range shooting approach.

The matchup had its challenges for Alabama, as leading scorer Labaron Philon was sidelined due to a left leg injury. In his absence, freshman London Jemison stepped into the starting lineup, marking a significant moment as it was the team’s 13th different starting configuration this season— the highest number since Coach Nate Oats took the helm in 2019.

Dominance and Record-Breaking Achievements

By halftime, Alabama had established a commanding 66-33 lead, demonstrating their dominance on the court. The Crimson Tide continued to apply pressure in the second half, ultimately finishing with a total of 22 three-pointers made out of 50 attempts, a record for any SEC team in conference play this season. Notably, Alabama managed to breach the century mark for the eighth time this season, with six different players each hitting at least two three-pointers throughout the game.

Mississippi State’s Struggles

On the other side, Mississippi State struggled to find their rhythm offensively, particularly in the first half. Although Josh Hubbard, the Bulldogs’ leading scorer and one of the top scorers in the SEC averaging 22 points per game, managed only 11 points—his third-lowest tally of the season—Achor Achor led the Bulldogs with 18 points.

Despite outpacing Alabama in the second half with a 42-37 scoring margin, the Bulldogs’ early deficit proved insurmountable. Looking ahead, Mississippi State will host Missouri on Saturday, while Alabama is set to take on Tennessee the same day, continuing the SEC showdown.
