Agyarko Looks to Forge Path to Glory in Las Vegas Against Brandon Adams

Caoimhin Agyarko vs. Brandon Adams: A Title Eliminator Showdown

Caoimhin Agyarko is set to face Brandon Adams in an IBF light-middleweight title eliminator this Saturday at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, with the fight scheduled for 04:00 BST on Sunday. This matchup offers Agyarko a significant opportunity to ascend in the boxing world and potentially vie for the title held by Josh Kelly, a highly anticipated prospect. Agyarko, 29, remains undefeated in his professional career, having won all 18 of his bouts.

Training and Inspiration

His training roots run deep at the Holy Trinity boxing club in west Belfast, which has recently celebrated success with two of its fighters, Anthony Cacace and Lewis Crocker, both of whom have claimed prestigious world titles. Cacace, a former IBF champion, reclaimed his status as a world champion last month when he defeated Jazza Dickens for the WBA super-featherweight title. Meanwhile, Crocker earned the IBF welterweight title in Belfast last year against Paddy Donovan.

Agyarko, who transitioned to professional boxing after a successful amateur career where he secured Irish and Ulster Elite titles, reflected on the inspiration he draws from Cacace’s journey. He praised the supportive environment fostered by the club’s coaching staff, particularly highlighting the grounded mentorship of Michael Hawkins Jr., Barry O’Neill, and Micky Hawkins Sr..

“Anto Cacace’s journey is incredibly motivational for me, given that we trained together as amateurs. Watching him achieve his dreams after overcoming challenges proves that hard work pays off,” Agyarko shared in an interview with BBC Sport NI.

He expressed his desire to follow in the footsteps of his successful club-mates, stating, “I want to be the next champion to emerge from Holy Trinity, and first, I must overcome Brandon Adams.”

Brandon Adams: A Resilient Opponent

Adams, a seasoned California fighter, enters the ring with a professional record of 26 wins and 4 losses, and has previously contested for the WBC middleweight title against Jermall Charlo in 2019. Although he faced setbacks, including a defeat in 2024, his recent win over Serhii Bohachuk has rejuvenated his career and placed him back in title contention.

The Stakes of the Fight

The stakes are high for both fighters; for Agyarko, a victory means a step closer to championship glory, while for Adams, it’s a pivotal moment that could determine the trajectory of his career. Agyarko acknowledged the significance of this fight, recognizing that neither can afford to lose.

“This might be Brandon’s last shot at a title, and I don’t want to squander this opportunity after working so hard to get here,” he noted.

With expectations mounting and an enticing potential clash with Kelly on the horizon, Agyarko is fully focused on the task at hand while believing in his capability to become a world champion this year – an ambition that he is determined to realize once he gets through Adams first.
