Adrian Simon Gill Renews Commitment to FC Barcelona
Adrian Simon Gill, a young talent hailing from the United States, has officially renewed his commitment to FC Barcelona through 2026, as announced by the club on Wednesday. The 19-year-old, who originally joined Barcelona’s prestigious La Masia academy in 2018, secured his first professional contract with the team in 2022. After this contract lapsed in June, Gill remained with the squad over the summer, albeit sidelined due to an injury.
Barcelona’s Confidence in Gill
Barcelona has opted to extend his tenure for an additional year, indicating their ongoing belief in his potential. Gill is anticipated to be a key member of Juliano Belletti’s Barça Atlétic, competing in the Spanish football’s fourth division.
Playing Style and International Experience
Mainly versatile in his playing style, Gill can occupy both midfield and full-back positions. He has donned the U.S. colors at various youth levels, but has seen fewer appearances since his time with the U17 squad largely due to injury setbacks. Last season, he collaborated alongside two other American players, goalkeeper Diego Kochen and midfielder Pedro Soma, within Barcelona’s reserve team framework.
Current Status of Teammates
Kochen is still with the club and has been included in the first team’s matchday roster, even making a substitute appearance in LaLiga’s season opener against Mallorca last Saturday. Meanwhile, Soma, who had been on loan from Cornellá, has since departed the club, recently joining MLS outfit San Diego FC.
