Adin Hill’s Challenging Season
Adin Hill, the goaltender for the Vegas Golden Knights, is in the midst of a challenging season, managing to limit opponents to three or fewer goals in 10 of his 16 games this year. However, his performance has been hampered by some unfortunate events, such as the recent match against the Edmonton Oilers where Hill succumbed to a key goal by Leon Draisaitl following a mishap with teammate Rasmus Andersson’s broken stick. Draisaitl exploited the situation to score on Hill, effectively sealing the Golden Knights’ fate in a 4-2 defeat.
Current Statistics and Performance
At 29 years old and with a birthday approaching in May, Hill finds himself with a record of 6-5-3 this season, sporting a goals-against average of 3.40, which significantly exceeds his average of 2.68 over his career. His save percentage has dipped to .859, notably lower than his career mark of .906. If the season ended today, this figure would be his worst career performance.
Season Challenges and Recovery
The campaign started off on shaky ground for Hill, beginning with two consecutive losses before he demonstrated statistical improvement, allowing only four goals in his subsequent three games and achieving a save percentage of .927 during that span. However, a lower-body injury sustained during a promising game against the Calgary Flames sidelined him from late January and interrupted his momentum, leaving the Golden Knights in a tight spot.
After successfully returning to action in January, Hill faced a string of challenges, losing four of his next five matches, which left him feeling frustrated and eager to contribute positively to the team’s success, particularly with the Olympic break approaching.
“You always expect the best out of yourself,” Hill shared, reflecting on his recent struggles. “It’s tough when pucks get by when you feel good about your game.”
Looking Ahead
To turn things around, Hill recently put forth a stellar performance, paving the way to a convincing 4-1 victory over the Los Angeles Kings in the final game before the Olympic hiatus. Looking ahead, he recognizes the importance of this month for the Golden Knights, where historically, they have performed at their best.
Instead of taking a break away from hockey, Hill opted to stay close to home with his family during the Olympic break, concentrating on his fitness regime and preparing himself for the remaining stretch of games.
“I’ll be ready to go and just looking for some wins,”
he stated, underscoring his commitment to maintaining his physical condition and contributing to the team’s success.
Aiming for Success
As Hill gears up for the final stretch of the season, he emphasizes the desire to return to the successful ways the Golden Knights exhibited during their Stanley Cup championship run in 2023.
“We want to get on a roll,”
he affirmed, aspiring for his team to regain their form as they aim for playoff contention.
