New York Rangers Call Up Adam Sýkora
In a strategic move, the New York Rangers have brought forward Adam Sýkora back up from their AHL affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack. Sýkora, a product of the 2022 NHL Draft where he was chosen in the second round, has dedicated the last three seasons to honing his skills in the American Hockey League.
Impressive AHL Performance
This season, the 21-year-old has demonstrated his talents by notching 12 goals and 17 assists, amassing a total of 29 points over 62 games with the Wolf Pack.
Ambitions for the NHL
Despite his impressive performance at the AHL level, Sýkora is still on the verge of achieving his long-awaited NHL debut.
“I know I’m a different player from those the Rangers have drafted,”
Sýkora commented back in September, hinting at his unique playing style. He emphasized his commitment to elements like forechecking and backchecking and acknowledged the importance of hard work.
Sýkora expressed his ambition to integrate all of these facets of his game to advance to the next stage of his career. He also highlighted his willingness to support teammates, engage during games, and contribute defensively, including participating in penalty kills and blocking shots.
Upcoming Matchup
As the team prepares for their upcoming matchup against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday, it remains to be seen whether Sýkora will take to the ice. In a related roster adjustment, Connor Mackey has been reassigned back to the AHL, paving the way for Drew Fortescue to potentially make his NHL debut during this crucial game in Toronto.
