Adam Novotny: A Rising Star for the 2026 NHL Draft

Adam Novotny, a promising prospect for the upcoming 2026 NHL Draft, had a standout experience during his meetings at the NHL Combine in Buffalo, NY. Out of the 26 teams he engaged with, the New York Islanders left a significant impression on him.

“We had an excellent meeting, and I would confidently say it was my best one. I’ve developed a favorable view of their organization because of it. It was definitely a fun experience,” Novotny remarked.

Impressions from the Islanders’ Interview

When asked what differentiated the Islanders’ interview from others, the 18-year-old Czech forward explained,

“There are times when the conversation just flows naturally, and you can feel that vibe. It makes you feel at ease and boosts your confidence during the interview. I sensed that was happening, and it felt great.”

Draft Prospects and Performance

The Islanders, who currently hold the 13th overall pick in the draft, may have Novotny on their radar as his projected selection range varies between 10th and 23rd overall. Standing at 6 feet 1 inch and weighing 205 pounds, Novotny possesses a powerful shot and an impressive defensive skill set, positioning him as a potential middle-six winger in the NHL.

This past season, he showcased his talent after being chosen by the Peterborough Petes in the CHL Import Draft, tallying 34 goals and 31 assists for a total of 65 points in 58 regular-season games. Additionally, he contributed one assist in six playoff matches.

Novotny also represented Czechia in the U20 World Junior Championships, registering three assists during the tournament, further highlighting his capabilities on the ice.
