Adam Azim Set for 15th Professional Bout

Adam Azim, the undefeated British light-welterweight, is set to enter the ring for his 15th professional bout on January 31, when he faces Argentina’s Gustavo Lemos. This event will be broadcast live on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer from the Copper Box Arena in London, marking a significant moment in boxing as it continues the BBC’s return to featuring professional bouts on primetime television—a development that began last month with the partnership between the BBC and Boxxer, highlighted by the fight between Jeamie ‘TKV’ Tshikeva and Frazer Clarke.

Azim’s Impressive Record and Ambitions

At just 23 years of age, Azim boasts an impressive record of 14 victories, 11 of which are knockouts. He views the upcoming matchup against the 29-year-old Lemos as a crucial step in his pursuit of a world title, particularly following his dynamic performance on the undercard during Conor Benn’s victory over Chris Eubank Jr. in November, where he delivered a flawless display against Kurt Scoby.

“Gustavo Lemos is a dangerous fighter, and exactly the sort of opponent I need to face to prove I’m ready for the very top,” Azim expressed with confidence.

He added that headlining an event aired live on BBC Two is a milestone in his career, especially as it takes place in his hometown of London.

“I’m ready to put on a performance and take another step towards becoming a world champion. I respect Gustavo Lemos and what he has achieved in the sport, but I’m going to show the world the level I’m at. This is my time,” he affirmed.

Undercard Highlights

In addition to the main event, the undercard will showcase Francesca Hennessy, an unbeaten British bantamweight, as she prepares to face Ellie Boutell in a final eliminator for the WBC bantamweight title, currently held by Cherneka Johnson. The match promises to be an exciting showcase of talent in the boxing world, drawing anticipation from fans and enthusiasts alike.
